As I continue to learn Linux, I still have a hard time remembering what to do when I download RPM or DEB files in my Kubuntu OS land.  Since I was a die hard Windows users but certainly saw the value in using Linux, I still find things a bit geeky to use the Linux file types.

Having said that, here are some simple notes to “run” these files to install the software you need.

RPM Files

rpm -ivh yourrpmfile.rpm

DEB Files

dpkg -i yourdebfile.deb
